At Mansfield Fireplace & Stove Centre at Ponsford, we regularly help homeowners across Sheffield and South Yorkshire upgrade outdated gas fires into modern, stylish media walls. It’s one of the most common requests we see in our showroom.

The Brief

When Mr. and Mrs. Amos first came to us, they were using a traditional gas fire. While it worked well, it felt dated and didn’t suit the way they wanted to use their living room.

They told us that although they enjoyed the flame effect, the heat output could quickly become too much. This made it uncomfortable to use for longer periods.

The layout of the room was also a challenge. Their existing plaster surround meant the television had to sit awkwardly in the corner. It created a poor viewing angle and made the space feel less cohesive.

Like many customers visiting our Ponsford showroom, they were looking for something more modern, practical, and visually striking.

A media wall delivered all of this in one design.

After finding Mansfield Fireplaces online and reading our customer reviews, they decided to visit our Sheffield showroom at Ponsford.

Seeing the displays in person helped them quickly realise that a bespoke media wall was the right solution.

They wanted a single focal point for the room. Something that would:

  • Bring the television into a central, comfortable viewing position
  • Hide cables and sockets neatly out of sight
  • Create a clean, modern finish
  • Allow them to enjoy a flame effect without overheating the room

The Media Wall Design in South Yorkshire

After discussing options and assessing the room dimensions, we created a bespoke design tailored to their space.

The final specification included a Ston media wall with a clean, single column design. There was space for a 55 inch television, with all wiring and outlets concealed behind the wall.

We installed a front-facing electric fire with a black background to create a strong visual contrast and enhance the flame effect.

The existing plaster surround was fully removed to allow for a clean installation and a completely fresh look.

The full media wall installation was completed over three days.

From removal of the old fireplace through to final finishing touches, our team handled every stage of the project. Just as we had promised during the consultation.

The finished result transformed the room. It created a modern, organised layout with a central focal point that works perfectly for both relaxing and entertaining.

We later caught up with Mr. and Mrs. Amos when they visited our Ponsford showroom again. They were kind enough to share their experience:

We are very happy with our finished media wall, as well as the service we received along the way.

During the initial sales process we were told there wouldn’t be any extra expenses, that the installers would take care of everything, and that there wouldn’t be any mess. We weren’t sure whether we could believe all of that.
